With the understanding that this is somewhat in flux, again this year we will be grouping most Gridiron football players ages 10-12, along with some Junior-age players, into 'Light' and 'Heavy' Midget categories.
Last year's guideline for how we broke it out, which will likely be this year's guideline as well, was the following:
10 year olds weighing less than 80 pounds will play as a Pee Wee.
MIDGET LIGHT
10 year olds weighing more than 80 pounds
11 year olds weighing less than 115 pounds
MIDGET HEAVY
11 year olds weighing more than 115 pounds
12 year olds weighing less than 125 pounds
13 year olds weighing less than 105 pounds
12 year olds weighing more than 125 pounds and 13 year olds weighing more than 105 pounds will play as a Junior.
We'll be looking at what we've got in terms of number of players in each age/weight category after registration closes on July 17, and then we'll begin comparing and working with the other Gridiron associations to establish the 'official' breakouts. We'll be communicating with parents as soon as the breakouts are finalized.
Go 'Cats!
